Just a quick little shout out to my sister and I’s new venture.  We grew up in a house that was full of creativity.  Our mother has always been extremely crafty, she started her own banner business in order to be a stay at home Mom.  She also made all of our dresses and cute outfits growing up and has made countless gifts and decorations. 

Well, Kristen and I have been crafting to decorate our respective homes as well as gifts for loved ones.

Now we have posted pictures of items that we would be more than happy to personalize and create for a gift for one of your loved ones or for a special occassion.  We are always coming up with new ideas, so check back often.  If you have a special request, feel free to ask and we will come up with a made to order treasure.

Gluten Free Peach Cobbler… I promise this is not an imposter!

Thanks to some ladies in Mason County, Texas I am able to bring to you a scrumptious gluten free cobble recipe.

I have had this cobbler while visiting my in-laws and also at our Mason Wedding Shower.  My in-laws actually enjoy this recipe just as much, if not more than a regular cobbler.  I LOVE this cobbler a la mode, but then again have you ever known me to NOT add ice cream to my desserts or meal?

The recipe requires a mix, but the rest of the ingredients anyone should be able to easily get or might even have on hand.  This is really nice, my Mom was asking about a gluten free dessert recipe and she was happy to only have to purchase ONE additional item for this recipe, instead of a million other gluten free flours and additions like some gluten free recipes call for. YIPPEE as my Mom would say 😉

Pamela’s Gluten Free Bread Mix is rather easy to find at the grocery store in their gluten free or specialy aisle.

Gluten Free Cobbler Recipe

1 cup Pamela’s Gluten Free Bread Mix

1 cup milk, might need to add a little extra to get a spreadable consistency

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1 1/2 cups sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 stick butter

1 teaspoon vanilla

4 cups fruit of choice (we enjoy peaches)

sprinkle of cinnamon and sugar

Get Busy:

Melt butter in 12×9 pan, mix all other ingredients.  Add batter to pan, top with 4 cups of the fruit of your choice.

Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on top before baking.

Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes or until brown.

Be prepared for a full tummy when you make this… I guarantee you that it will satisfy your sweet tooth and leave your tummy full and happy!


Gluten Free pizza crust review

We have a WINNER!!!!

One of my co-worker’s husband suffered from a gluten allergy a little while ago.  He has overcome this and I lucked out and received the gluten free goodies that she still had in her pantry!! WOOHOO!

I have not been able to experiment in the kitchen like I would like to since we often get home pretty late from work and such.  With that being said I tend to try new recipes and ideas on the weekend.  I am happy to bring to you a Gluten Free pizza crust that is something even the hubby really enjoyed. 

The Namaste Foods, Gluten Free Pizza Crust Mix turned out DELICIOUS!  It is wheat free, gluten free, dairy, corn, soy, potato, casein, AND nut free. Whew what an awesome find. AND the best part was that the bag contains enough mix for TWO different pizza crusts.  The Italian seasonings that were already included in the ingredients of this crust made it the best gluten free crust that I have ever had or made.  Typically the crust is just a plain combination of gluten free flours with zero seasonings.  I think that the seasonings are what won the hubby over also… he is a seasoning fanatic, the more the better! Plus, deep down inside I know Aaron misses the convenience of ordering a pizza for dinner when he just has the craving, maybe I can keep his cravings at bay by making this a regular occurrence for dinner!

We devoured the pizza before I took a pic, but I had mushrooms, hamburger, minced garlic, and spinach on my side.  Aaron had LOTS of mozzerella cheese, pepporoni, and mushrooms.  We both has tomato paste with italian seasonings on the crust before we added our personal toppings. 

I highly suggest trying this type of gluten free crust if you are looking for a gluten free pizza treat!

Update on goals and life

WOW! Is all I can say about August!! Sorry it has been so very long since I have posted.  Life has not slowed down for one second the past few weeks, I mean this in all seriousness! I feel bad for not catching up with friends back in town, but we have

So what have I been up to? Anything and everything possible!

We worked on getting settled into our new home… I finally got everything put away that was mine. Aaron still has some work to do, but he hasn’t sat down one second either so I have not gotten onto him by any means.

As soon as we were situated in our house, we started to get the area suitable for our sheep.  This entailed putting in 240 t-posts for a new fence that we were/are putting up.  Not even kidding when I say we have been getting up and going to work and then rushing home to work on fence and sheep until dark.  A couple of Aaron’s wool kids have been hired to help. Thank goodness for them it has come  along way.  Two people working on 3/4 mile of fence just isn’t enough.  I have to send out a shout out of thanks to Dustin and Bailey Jo for working until 10:30 one night helping us to paint brand our donors and recip ewes… yes this was outside in the pasture/corral.  We ended up working by the light of our iPhone flashlights!! There just are not enough hours in the day with working full time and getting the sheep where we need them :-(!! Thanks guys for the help!

For my job as the events coordinator at the Law School I put on a three day orientation for the first year law school students. I literally had brusied feet by the end of the first day from running from one end of the building and back to keep things going.  I did everything behind the scenes, which was okay with me.  My boss did an AMAZING job up on the stage and the first year students seemed to really enjoy it. We had a lot of fun, food, orienting going on, and sponsors to keep on track. I learned a lot from this event, but life at work did not slow down there…

The bunnies were temporarily allowed to live in our backyard, we are dogsitting this weekend so they are back in the hutch.  They make me laugh sooo much.  They literally would sprint from one end of the yard to the other.  I think they were surprised their little legs still worked after being in a hutch just about their whole lives! A couple of Aaron’s friends from A&M stopped by on their way through from California.  We hosted them and had fun, but I did not get caught up on sleep… actually I ended up worse than when the weekend started. I love visiting but 3a.m. is wayyyy too late to stay up for this ol’ girl. 

Then we had our faculty and staff welcome dinner at Cagle’s Steakhouse.  It was delicious AND gluten free.  Small world, the owner of Cagle’s came and talked to me for a very long time and long story short- Aaron and I met while working for Elanco Animal Health… and the owner of Cagle’s worked for Elanco years ago! Agriculture really is a small world!

The next evening we had our first year student reception in the Jone’s AT&T stadium. 

I arranged a sweet deal for our guests, I had the stadium unlock two suites so that students could watch the Texas Tech football team practice! SWEET!! I might have been a little excited also! 😉

Aaron unfortunately missed out on all of the evening events because he was building fence 😦 😦 I completely understood and just wanted the fence done so we could have our life back…

This past weekend we had more company. Another of Aaron’s friends was judging a sheep show in Lubbock on Saturday.  You actually might remember seeing this good looking couple at our Rehearsal Dinner:

We had a great time visiting on Friday evening.  Last time they came up Aaron was on his Walk to Emmaus and they were stuck with just me to entertain them.  Poor souls I know ;-). Jake, Lauren, and Aaron took off Sat. morning for the show and I went back to the Law School to host another event.  After the event was over with I took Lauren around to shop in Lubbock. This was the first time I had been shopping in AGES! Then we all met back at home to regroup and then came back into Lubbock for dinner at Las Brisas… YUMMO! Unfortunately they had to leave Sunday morning… cannot wait until they are closer and we can go visit them! It made for a really fun weekend and the first time we didn’t work on the fence until dark since we started.

We are still working on the fence in the evenings.  I felt bad, we were the first ones to leave Life Group this Wednesday night.  We had to get all of the sheep in for the sheep shearer.  We ran around the pasture in the dark and such until about 10:45p.m. and then brought a load of them up to the barn.  Last night when I got home it was a VERY welcome sight though to see sheep up by the house. I am getting used to this life and feel blessed to have this opportunity… Aaron and I are both exhausted and looking forward to this weekend. We do not have anything but fence building and sheep work planned BUT with not having to go to work for three days I have faith that we can get a lot accomplished.  If anyone wants to come help you are more than welcome to 😉 jk I would not subject you to that. You could come see some of our animals and new family members though…

Aaron LOVES all of the toads around our house… there are a lot. Almost every night when we wrapped things up, these guys would greet us as we went into the house.

Aaron also was very thankful to have found this guy on the side of the road. Can’t you see how excited this little boy my husband is after I said he could keep him?

AND… just so you know- Aaron is sooo proud of all of our animals and such. For his PowerPoint for his first day of teaching he had a whole slide dedicated to Introductions of our animals. Haha it made me laugh, my husband is still a little kid at heart. Probably the reason why is he so good at teaching and connecting with freshmen students :-)!

Soooo you might ask how my goals are coming…

I have gotten a TON of sheepercises in.  I have lost FOUR pounds as a result of literally working morning to night. The only dessert I have had is the one bowl of homemade ice cream that Aaron made.  I am too tired to even think about eating more than what a typical meal is so I have not worried about it.

I have talked to my family a little more than normal while I am driving back and forth from work.  I talked to my Grandma Fry yesterday and she was sooo excited to hear that I am going to be back in Indiana next weekend for Leslie’s wedding. Sadly though I don’t have vacation days so I will only be there for the wedding, rehearsal dinner and then Sunday morning.  I will make sure to stop on my way to the airport though to see all of my grandparents. My Mom told me when Grandpa Fry heard I was going to be back that he wanted to grill out ribeyes and have a celebration.  It broke my heart because I won’t be there for a dinner to be able to do that. I miss my family sooo much! I did get all of the antique Fiesta that my grandparents gave me from their 71 years of marriage put into my pie safe:

Grandma was very excited to hear that we were enjoying it.  I have a LOT of things in my home from my family and it makes me smile to be surrounded by such nice things! My Grandpa White made me a lot of furniture growing up and we are happy to have it in our home.

I just need to do a HOME post for you guys so you can see everything!

Chicken Enchiladas: New Gluten Free Recipe

I took this recipe from Pinterest.  Thanks to the Budgetsavvydiva, I found a winning recipe with some minor alterations.

They are called The Best Chicken Enchiladas. I would have to agree with her on that! 🙂

Grocery list:
10 soft corn tortilla shells (warmed up slightly in the microwave so they are pliable to wrap up)
2 cups cooked, shredded chicken
2 cups shredded cheese (I omitted the cheese because I am not a cheese fan and Aaron didn’t want additional cheese without him adding it himself)
3 Tbsp. butter
2 Tbsp. Corn Starch (I used about 3 times this much to get it really thick)
2 cups chicken broth
1 Clove of Minced Garlic
1/2 Teaspoon of Salt and Pepper
1 cup sour cream Fat free plain Chobani greek yogurt (my healthified alteration)
1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
1 Teaspoon of lime juice
1 bag of spinach
Get busy:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Grease a 9×13 pan.

In a sauce pan – melt the butter and stir in corn starch and cook for one minute. Add broth and whisk until smooth. Keep over heat until it bubbles and becomes thick. Stir in greek yogurt, garlic powder, lime, salt and pepper. Do not let it boil.
Pour a little bit of sauce on the bottom of the pan to keep the shells from getting hard when cooked.
Fill tortilla shells with shredded chicken (I also added some spinach leaves to each wrap to get some greens in)
I just added some spinach on top of mine since I didn’t know how well Aaron would receive spinach in his Mexican food. Also put the leftover chicken on top of his side, (hence the chunks).
Pour the rest of the mixture over enchiladas.
Top with any cheese you might want
Bake for 25 min or until the insides are warm.

Crossfit Farmer’s Walk Inspirational Blog

Today, Carrots ‘N’ Cake blogged about her Crossfit WOD. The WOD was called the 1 mile farmer’s walk They walked a mile with the heaviest weights they could. I suppose they were trying to replicate the hard walks that some farmers have to make?

The thought of this just gave me flashbacks of me days growing up. During chore time I would climb up the ladder to the hay mount (the hay mount is where we stacked 50-75 pound hay bails on days ranging in temperature from 90-100+ degrees). Once I would climb up the ladder I would grab as many hay bails as I needed and then throw them down onto the ground. Then I would carry one… sometimes two (depending on how heavy they were) out of the barn and into the lot that we had cows and calves to feed. Then I would go back and do it all over again.

I am sure MANY of you that grew up on a farm know exactly what I am talking about. Did you know you were sort of doing a Crossfit type work-out? Yeah, me neither… Come to think of it, a lot of what farmers and ranchers do on a daily basis is a Crossfit type work-out that we do to be able to feed the world!

For those of you who have never heard of Crossfit, here is a good description of what it is and what a WOD is.

Just to list a few examples of a typical farmer’s day that could be a WOD:

Scenario: Cattle are out and in the neighbor’s field or on the road. So you sprint back and forth hearding cattle back into the pasture by yourself as cars whiz by and continue to scare the cattle away. Once cattle are back in pen you run to the shed/barn and grab fence tools and get to work fixing the fence or digging a new post hole to replace a broken post.


  • Sprint forward and side to side for 15 minutes (could really be more if cattle won’t cooperate)
  • Jog half mile
  • Pick up 25 pounds of weight (could be more depending on what fence equipment you need)
  • Jog back half mile with 25 pounds of weight
  • 10-15 kettleball swing (depends on how deep of a post hole you have to dig)
  • Jog back another half mile with 25 pounds of weight

Scenario: Using a shovel and a wheelbarrow to clean out pens. (This was my typical job every couple of weeks for my sheep pens and daily for my calf pens)


  • 20 lb kettleball side swing
  • 100 lb sled push for 400 yards (could be longer depending on where you are dumping manure and bedding)
  • 100 lb power clean (to dump to wheelbarrow)
  • 10 lb. sled push for 400 yards
  • REPEAT 5x (typically a lot more if you are cleaning the whole barn)

Scenario: Riding the wagon to bail hay


  • 1 Box jump, just up (to get on the wagon)
  • 25 50-75 lb. power cleans as quick as you can
  • 1 Box jump, just down (to pick up the bail of hay you didn’t get to fast enough, so it fell on the ground)
  • 1 50lb. power clean (to get hay on the wagon)
  • REPEAT allllllll day, until wagons are all full and the hay is bailed. Then you will move onto unloading onto hay elevator and stacking in hay mount.

These are just a few things that are done by farmers and ranchers to provide us food and fiber, that could also be a WOD, they exert physical labor on a daily basis. Is this possibly why generations ahead of us were in so much better health than people these days with desk jobs? My grandpa is 93 years old and still gets out and works on the farm daily. WOW!

The CRAZY thing about being a farmer/rancher when compared to Crossfit is that in Crossfit you can pick your level and life weights according to the weight you WANT to. When a job has to be done, a farmer/rancher does NOT have a choice. The job has to be done by them no matter how big or small.

Tupelo Honey Review- Asheville, North Carolina Gluten Free Restaurant Gems

On our last day in Asheville, NC we had the opportunity to get dinner on our own. A couple of the graduate students had definitely done their research and also looked up to make sure their choice had a gluten free menu… I am so blessed!! 🙂

Tupelo Honey was the restaurant of choice. There are two locations in Asheville.  We went to the one on the Southside of town. It was super cute inside and very homey feeling. The first thing that was brought to the table was… you guessed it… HONEY and biscuits.

I grew up eating biscuits or my Mom’s amazing homemade dinner rolls with honey. I was addicted, but once I became gluten intolerant the addiction sadly came to an end! When we placed our orders, I definitely placed mine off of their extensive gluten free menu. I ordered a chicken sandwich… mainly because I wanted to have gluten free bread after being deprived for a while. Our server asked if I would like gluten free bread instead of the biscuits the others were chowing down on… WOW this place had a great understanding of gluten free and I had full confidence in my dinner.

As you can can see there is a sheen of honey on that first bite… YUMMYYYYY I was so very happy!  I highly suggest this restaurant if you are near the Biltmore. It is not far at all and it is very very good. The other’s review on the main menu was fantastic also. Many others got grits and some fried food and fried okra. What a great way to end a wonderful trip!
